TechnologyConsultancy

Independent assessment of the technology you already run, and structured support for the decisions that follow. We hold no reseller agreements and take no vendor commission.

Positioning

Advice with nothing riding on the answer.

A great deal of technology advice is given by organisations that profit from a particular conclusion. We are not one of them.

Alvoris does build software — and that is precisely why our consultancy engagements are scoped and priced separately. A review that concludes “keep what you have, change three settings and train four people” is a successful review. We will write it if the evidence supports it.

Where a review does point towards new software, you are free to take our findings to any supplier you like. The report is yours.

The consultancy method

Evidence accumulates. Then the recommendation writes itself.

Five stages, each producing something written. Nothing is asserted at stage five that was not evidenced at stages one to four.

The five-stage consultancy method Five stages of increasing evidence — understand, assess, compare, prioritise and recommend — each producing a written output. Evidence accumulated Decision ready Stage 01 Understand What the business needs to do Stage 02 Assess Systems, usage, cost, gaps Interviews and evidence Output: findings log Stage 03 Compare Options set out side by side Scored against your criteria Cost over three years Output: comparison matrix Stage 04 Prioritise Impact against effort Risk and dependency order What can wait Output: ranked actions Stage 05 Recommend A stated preference The reasoning behind it What it will cost to act What happens if you do not Output: written report Each stage produces a written output before the next one begins

What you receive

Documents, not impressions.

Every consultancy engagement ends with material your organisation keeps and can act on without us.

01Written reportFindings, evidence, options and a stated recommendation, in language a non-technical board member can follow.
02Current-state recordAn inventory of what you run, who uses it, what it costs and what depends on it.
03Prioritised action listSequenced by impact, effort and dependency, with an indication of what each item is likely to involve.
04Comparison materialWhere options exist: scored matrices, cost projections and the criteria used, so the choice can be defended later.
05Risk register extractTechnology risks stated plainly, with likely consequence and the mitigation that would address each one.
06A working sessionA walkthrough of the findings with your team, so questions are answered while the reasoning is still fresh.
Cost and duration

Consultancy engagements start at £1,500.

Consultancy is deliberately the cheaper entry point. For many organisations the correct first step is a review rather than a build — and the review often shows that the build can be smaller than expected.

Indicative starting price From £1,500 Depending on which of the four consultancy services applies, the number of systems in scope and the number of people to be interviewed.
Typical duration 2–5 weeks From kick-off to final report, depending on scope, the availability of your staff for interviews and how quickly system information can be gathered.
Start a conversation

Ask the question you have been putting off.

Whether that is “are we paying for things nobody uses”, “is this product still right for us” or “what happens if that server dies” — those are the questions our consultancy work exists to answer.
